BIO:
I have been involved in music thru many periods of my life, and busy now as
ever. I write and perform songs, do covers, play solo and with other folks. I
mostly play guitar, some harmonica, and in band situations, often get behind a
keyboard.. I'm in an all-songwriter band No Contact Band. Otherwise, when not
solo-ing it, I have other folks with whom I do gigs, open mics, and ad hoc
bands. Most notably I have worked often with Craig St. Clair over the years, and
more recently, with Phil Harmonic and Kevin Moore, among others.
I have been fortunate to play such varied venues as the Richardson Wildflower
Festival, Deep Ellum Arts Festival, Plano Balloon Festival, Chillipepperama, and
Sons of Hermann Hall. I once played before 300 co-workers at 7 am, and at an
Addison Airport hanger on the 4th of July. I've appeared on Internet radio in
Dallas, and on Plano cable television. Recently I played in a classic rock band,
The Genetic Hippies. I regularly play open mikes at Dunn Bros. Coffee, Opening
Bell Coffee, the Winedale Tavern, and others.
I enjoy the opportunity to play. Quitting a heavy cigarette habit a couple years
ago has given me added motivation and confidence as I started stepping up to the
mic in recent years.
I started out when I got hooked on music as a kid listening to Top 40 stations
on a transistor radio. A few years later, the Beatles and the British Invasion
sealed the deal--I learned guitar and piano, and began playing with others. Over
time, many sounds influenced me -- folk, rock, pop, progressive country,
Americana, Texana, classic rock, Southern Rock, reggae..... I am inspired by
artists like Bruce Cockburn, James Taylor, James McMurtry, Lyle Lovett, Little
Feat, Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, John Hiatt, Warren Zevon, and like-minded
artists....In general, call my music Americana folk-rock, with a bit of blues
and country...these are the forces that inform my songwriting and cover song
selection.
